Cynllun cenedlaethol dysgu alawon traddodiadol

Ers 15 mlynedd mae Clera, cymdeithas alawon draddodiadol Cymru, wedi trefnu gweithdai i ddysgu'n cerddoriaeth draddodiadol yng Nghymru. Mae Cyngor Celfyddydau Cymru yn awr wedi cynnig grant i ni estyn y cynllun hwn trwy drefnu cyfres o weithdai traddodiadol ledled y wlad o Fawrth 1af eleni, gan baratoi ar gyfer arddangosfa a chynhadledd Cerddoriaeth Byd WOMEX a gynhelir yng Nghaerdydd yn 2013.

Diolch i grant y Cyngor Celfyddydau, gallwn gynnig sesiynau dwy-awr o hyfforddiant gan gerddorwyr blaenllaw alawon traddodiadol gwerin Cymru am £7.50. Cynhelir y dosbarthiadau hanner-dydd naill ai ar fore neu brynhawn dydd Sadwrn, yn ôl barn y trefnydd lleol, a dymunwn hefyd redeg sesiwn cerddoriaeth draddodiadol i ddilyn yr hyfforddiant.

Er mai cefnogi'r offerynnau traddodiadol fel y delyn, ffidil, ffliwt, chwibanogl a'r pibau yw prif ddiddordeb Clera, rydym am gydweithio gyda Trac i gynnwys offerynnau mwy cyfoes fel yr acordion, melodeon, consertina, gitâr a'r banjo. Gwahoddwn y cyrff gwerin eraill fel y Gymdeithas Alawon Gwerin, y Gymdeithas Ddawns a'r Gymdeithas Cerdd Dant i ychwanegu dosbarth eu hunain lle bo'n briodol.

Rydym wrthi ar hyn o bryd yn trefnu mannau cynnal y gweithdai ledled Cymru, a bydd rhai ohonynt mewn llefydd sy'n atyniadau i'r cyhoedd yn gyffredinol, fel y gallwn gyflwyno'n cerddoriaeth traddodol i gynulleidfa mwy eang. Byddwn yn rhedeg ein gweithdai yn Amgueddfa Werin Cymru yn Sain Ffagan, Amgueddfa Genedlaethol y Glannau yn Abertawe ac Amgueddfa Wlân Cymru yn Sir Gaerfyrddin a Gwyl Tegeingl yn yr Wyddgrug. Yn ogystal â hyn, disgwylwn ddarparu dosbarthiadau o fewn cyrraedd pob rhan o'r wlad, a felly disgwyliwn ddefnyddio neuaddau cymuned a chanolfannau dysgu. Os oes gennych awgrymiad am leoliad gweithdy yn eich ardal neu os ydych am gynnig help i drefnu neu os ydych am ddod i ddysgu, cysylltwch drwy e-bost â gweithdyclera@meucymru.co.uk.

Welsh Traditional
Music Workshops
across Wales
beginning March 1st 2012

Top tutors teaching traditional tunes

For over 15 years, Clera, the society for Welsh traditonal instruments, has organised music tutorial workshops in various parts of Wales. We have now been offered support by the Wales Arts Council to organise an extensive series of tutoring sessions running from March 1st this year, raising the profile of Welsh music in the lead up to the World Music conference and exhibition WOMEX which will be held in Cardiff in 2013.

Thanks to the Arts Council grant, participants across Wales will be able to have two hours' worth of tuition from leading Welsh traditional musicians for just £7.50. The half-day classes will run on Saturdays, either in the morning or the afternoon, according to the local organiser, and we intend to arrange a traditional session of Welsh music after each workshop.

Although Clera focuses on the traditional Welsh instruments such as the harp, the fiddle, the pibgorn, flute, whistle and pipes, we also intend to collaborate with Trac to include more modern instuments such as the melodeon, accordion, concertina, guitar, mandolin and banjo. We are also inviting the other traditional Welsh folk song and dance societies to add a class of their own where appropriate.

We are currently arranging venues across Wales, some of which will be at exciting and well-known settings, including the National Museum of Wales at St Fagans, the National Waterfront Museum at Swansea and the Tegeingl Festival at Mold. Wherever possible, we would like our classes to enhance other public events which have a wide audience through live performance of our traditional Welsh music. We aim to provide classes which are within rerach to players across the whole of Wales, so we expect to use local community halls and learning centres as well as the larger llocations. If you think there is a venue or suitable event near you which could host one of our workshops or if you would like to help with the organisation or join some of the workshops, please get in touch on: cleraworkshops@meucymru.co.uk.
